An “Emotional” Intervention

I’m feeling better.  My cold, fever, stomach ache, etc seem to have gone.  I’m relieved.  Cuz tomorrow is Sunday, Long Run Day.  I have 10 miles on the “To-Do” list tomorrow.  In addition to feeling crappy, all week-long I’ve been feeling kind of low, emotionally.  I don’t feel like I’ve had any “wins” this week, and it was bringing me down.  My ambition fell along with my feelings (nah, really?)….until it felt like I had to scrape it up off the floor like a dried up old paint spot.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Heading to the scale at my Weight Watchers meeting on Saturday morning, when I’ve had an awesome, strong week of running and eating — feels exciting, powerful.  The past two Saturdays, I got on the scale and faced a loss of .8 of a pound.  Two weeks in a row.  My initial reaction was — AGGGHHH, not enough!! I should have lost more!  MORE!  MOOOOREEE!!!  But my husband Peter pulled me aside both weeks and reminded me of what is important.

Well that felt awful

Well that felt awful

So the rain came through like a Blustery Day!  A torrential downpour that would have flooded the Hundred Acre Woods for sure, but it managed to clear up for my morning run.  I was prepared to be out there, regardless of the weather.  So I had that going for me.  But kind of like sad little Eeyore – I managed to bring my own “little black rain cloud” with me this morning.  I didn’t like today’s run.  No, not a nip.  I’d try to look on the bright side….if I could find it! Running Long

Running Long

The long run sits on Sundays……double digit runs that start at almost the longest mileage I have EVER done….and climb into the stratosphere to 22 miles or something insane like that!   Marathon Brian has told me — the running during the week made him more weary — because it’s day after day, and then ya gotta get ready for work and go do that!  “The long run, on Sunday — was enjoyable“, he said.  Ohh -Key -Doh – Key!!
