The Day After 10

The Day After 10

So, how did it feel to run 10 miles?  Let me tell ya.

Yesterday, after the run I was tired.  So I sat down.  Had a cup of coffee.  I felt good.  The-nnnnn, I decided to get up and make myself some breakfast — and my legs did NOT agree.  I was stiff.  Stiff as a board.  Like a 90-year-old woman, I forced myself up off the couch (LOL), and hobbled into the kitchen to make myself some eggs.

LOL, it didn’t last long — but it was funny.  Funny-weird.  Brian has told me about how your muscles can seize up, and just refuse to go anymore.  He scares me a bit about the walking during the Marathon, because he has experienced this stiffening when he walks in between running — which is why he is so against it.  This was the first time I felt that bad.  It was eye-opening.

I went to bed bathed in Icy-Hot.  Our bedroom smelled like a gigantic creme-de-mint.  LOL.  The preventative care worked wonders though.  I woke up this morning feeling great, terrific.  The schedule ASKED for 3 miles.  I set out feeling really good to get it done.  I was going sloooow.  A mile into it, I realized how tired, physically tired, I still was from yesterday.  I finished well — then came home — Happy that tomorrow is a Rest Day.  Yeeeaaahhh!!

I need to re-build some energy to run Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 4 miles each.  These are my next set of runs to focus on.  Week #1 is complete.  I give myself a Grade of B.  A great start.  I finished all my runs, didn’t miss a mile.  I gave it my all, left nothing on the table.  Walked some (BOO!), but that’s my improvement for next week.  Less Walking.  No Walking.

Goals.  Goals.  Goals are Good!

Ciao for now…….Diane

About Diane

Ciao! My name is Diane. I'm a wife, a mom, a working professional, and a Weight Watcher from New Jersey. I started blogging in 2011, at 45 years old, when I was training for my first Half Marathon at Rutgers on April 22, 2012. Since then, I've lost 80 pounds, completed my Half Marathon goal and gone on to train for and run my very first Full Marathon. On Jan 13, 2013, I ran the Disney Marathon in Orlando, Fl! What an incredible day. As the saying goes -- "The person who starts the race is not the same person who finishes the race." I am forever changed! So now we move on to the next phase of this journey! Come along. We're in this together!! Ciao for now!
