first snow

first snow

It snowed today.  Only about 2 -3 inches, but it was really coming down there for a while.  Little snowballs falling from the sky.  Pretty is an overused word for a pristine winder scene, but since this was our real first snow of the season……pretty seemed apropo.

I spent the day inside, resting, reading, doing laundry — all under the glow of the twinkle of Christmas lights.  Oh yes — the season continues in our home.  You see, this gazelle is an Epiphany baby, born on January 6th.  One lovely tradition in my family over the years — was to try to stretch the life of our living Douglas Fir until my birthday.  So I’ve become accustomed to enjoying the twinkle of th Christmas tree all the way through to epiphany.  And I quite like it.  Alot!

As night begins to fall, my thoughts turn to prepping for my 22 mile run tomorrow.   Scurrying around the house, getting all my running gear ready.  No way to avoid it, Weather.com says it’s going to be C.O.L.D. tomorrow.  Marathon Brian told me on Friday when I was complaining about the cold weather running — “maybe its good that it’s cold — it’ll give you something else to focus on.”   LOL, he means something other than counting off the miles.  All 22 of them!

This run is exciting — it is going to help me KNOW what Race Day will feel like. Get it under my feet so to speak. I’m going into this one with no expectations. No experiments. Nada. I just need to Get It Done. Getting it done gets me THAT much closer to getting it done on Jan 13th. No pressure tomorrow. This is the dress rehearsal, er – minus 20-30 degrees.

The temps are going to be in the low 20’s, with feel temps in the teens.  UGH!  Distraction Diane, it will be a healthy distraction!  Uh, O…K!  If you say so Coach!

So, off to be early — a sound night sleep is in the plan.  My time spent today doing Day One of Deepak Chopra’s Mind-Body Odyssey Meditation will hopefully help me start and sustain a positive, excited mind frame.  I’m ever so close to being a Marathon-er.

Wow.  Diane….Who are You Girl??  I Dunno, but I’m excited to find out.

Ciao for now……Diane

About Diane

Ciao! My name is Diane. I'm a wife, a mom, a working professional, and a Weight Watcher from New Jersey. I started blogging in 2011, at 45 years old, when I was training for my first Half Marathon at Rutgers on April 22, 2012. Since then, I've lost 80 pounds, completed my Half Marathon goal and gone on to train for and run my very first Full Marathon. On Jan 13, 2013, I ran the Disney Marathon in Orlando, Fl! What an incredible day. As the saying goes -- "The person who starts the race is not the same person who finishes the race." I am forever changed! So now we move on to the next phase of this journey! Come along. We're in this together!! Ciao for now!
