Happiness is Dogwood Trees.

The closer we get to closing on the sale of our house — I’m beginning to miss my garden.  Luckily, I’m getting a chance to enjoy the bloom of so many of our trees and shrubs “one-more-time” before we move.  Some of my absolute favorite things in our garden are the pink Dogwood trees that line our property.  When I moved to East Brunswick 15 years ago, I met a landscaper named Jeff Kumka of 4 Season’s Landscaping.  Jeff is retired now, but he did an incredible job landscaping our home, in a way that I could enjoy all 4 seasons.  Just.as.his.companys.name.promises.  <3   Jeff, I hope you are enjoying your retirement.  As I gaze out my front window and our master bedroom windows….the pink clouds that are the canopy of the dogwoods in bloom this week just lighten my soul.  I will think of you whenever i see Dogwoods in bloom.  Thank you for the joy of my garden these past 15 years.

My sister Debbie ran the Disney World Star Wars 10K this morning in Orlando!  I am Sooooo proud of her!  She is a gazelle in the making.  I Was cheering you on this morning Debbie!  Wear that bling with pride sister.  Love you so much!

The past weeks have been busy…..no, …frantic!  So much to do when you are selling a house, packing to move, AND in the middle of a job search.  Well, today is going to be simple…easy.  Peter and I are going to pack a lunch and he is taking me on a date to the movies.  <3

It doesn’t really matter what we see, I would be happy with anything.  What matters is — I’m going out with my guy, he’s going to hold my hand, and make me feel special.

My kitchen window looks out onto our back yard, which is full of small trees, a garden, and a small pool.  I have spent many minutes and hours of my life, washing dishes and gazing out of that window at my children, nature, the world outside.  Last Sunday morning, I was washing some breakfast dishes, and looking out the window at a bright & sunny day.  It was early….quiet.  The world outside of my picture window appeared to be all mine <3

As I soaped and scrubbed, I watched this tiny little finch building a nest in one of our trees in the back yard. She’d fly out, bring back a twig or a piece of dry grass….then she’d flit and float and hover in the air as she tucked and built a nest.

Have you ever come across an old bird’s nest and really looked at it?  So complex, so intricate, almost architectural. And to think, the little mama did all of that with her beak.  Such a talented and amazing little wonder.  Spring is a magnificent time of year!  #ChooseHappiness365 (151/365)

I have learned over the past year — not to value myself by the number I see on the scale.  It’s just a piece of the puzzle in my confounding journey toward Self Care.   But this week — the numbers on the scale told me that I have lost 11.8 pounds over the last month.  That is feedback that I need!   Well done, Diane, well done.  Keep going.  One step in front of the other.  #ChooseHappiness365 (150/365)
