100 Days of Happiness (72/100)

100 Days of Happiness (72/100)

Ahhh, so “shovel-mania” is well underway.  Here in our town, the estimates are between 24 and 28 inches of fresh January snow.  Peter completed phase 3 of his “dig out plan” this morning — the worst of the 3, because it includes opening up the apron after the snow plows came through.  UGH!  Now he (and his new snowblower) are over at our neighbor Andrew’s house — helping Andrew dig out.  Neighborly love.

Today’s happy thought is a GIFT for us all.   Hawaiian leis.

100 Days of Happiness (69 & 70/100)

100 Days of Happiness (69 & 70/100)

I’m a few days behind — so sorry for that — but I assure you my happy days continue!  As we all realize by now, this exercise is about perspective.  So here goes!

I’ve been away from writing because I landed in Newark Airport from LAX on Thursday night with a major winter cold!  Los Angeles, thanks for the pockets of sunshine AND the bacteria!

I soldier on.   My happiness has been brought to me by two faithful friends.  A big pot of tea and a bag of Halls. 🙂  #100happydays (69 & 70/100)

My body is still on east coast time-zone, which means I fall asleep at 930pm pt and I wake up at 4am pt.  Oh well.  The upside is all in the planning.  6am my coffee arrived, and now I get to sit on my balcony and look at the blue glow of the mountains emerge out of the mist, as the sun rises.  I don’t think I have a large enough appreciation for mountains.  They are very beautiful.  Good morning from Pasadena.  #100happydays (68/100)

First day in California went well.  Lots of meetings with good people, sharing ideas and planning for progress.  I like it.

memory lane

Once the day was done, my old friend Ashley and a few others, took me out for a drink.  Today was made great by a nice glass of Cabernet (ok, 3)….and a walk down memory lane.  #100happydays (67/100)

100 Days of Happiness (66/100)

I spent today in the air.  Flying above the planet.  Moving from New Jersey to Los Angeles.  Star Trek was right.  Beam me up Scotty!

Ok, well, it wasn’t quite like that.  It didn’t happen with a tri-corder.  And my matter didn’t distribute in NJ and combine back together in Los Angeles.  Er – no.  I was cramped in a window seat, on a packed jet for almost 6 hours.  It was time to make lemonade out of lemons.

The solution?  My in-seat flight entertainment system!  Hooray!  M-O-V-I-E-S!!!  I watched 2 3/4 movies.  First was Bridge of Spies, then The Monuments Men, then 3/4 of The Martian.  I guess I’ll watch the end of that one on the way home on Thursday morning.

100 Days of Happiness (64/100)

It’s January 16th and it feels like SPRING outside.  51 degrees and sunny.  Oh don’t get me wrong, I LOVE it — but it’s just so weird.    This winter, we have had fewer ‘cold’ days thus far than spring-like days.  I don’t know if this is all because of the El Nino the weatherman keep talking about — or if it’s an ominous sign of changing weather patterns due to our (read mankind’s) poor care of our planet.

daffoldil

Deep deep questions for a lazy Saturday.  Either way, I spend this January day in 2016 with daffodils on my mind.  Two months too soon — but — eventually YELLOW will be the color of the season.

SPRING ROCKS, even in January.  #100happydays (64/100)
