About Diane

Ciao! My name is Diane. Welcome to this most precious place, where I offer myself a safe place to be vulnerable and bravely grow throughout the life journey.

365 Days of Happiness (151/365)

My kitchen window looks out onto our back yard, which is full of small trees, a garden, and a small pool.  I have spent many minutes and hours of my life, washing dishes and gazing out of that window at my children, nature, the world outside.  Last Sunday morning, I was washing some breakfast dishes, and looking out the window at a bright & sunny day.  It was early….quiet.  The world outside of my picture window appeared to be all mine <3

As I soaped and scrubbed, I watched this tiny little finch building a nest in one of our trees in the back yard. She’d fly out, bring back a twig or a piece of dry grass….then she’d flit and float and hover in the air as she tucked and built a nest.

Have you ever come across an old bird’s nest and really looked at it?  So complex, so intricate, almost architectural. And to think, the little mama did all of that with her beak.  Such a talented and amazing little wonder.  Spring is a magnificent time of year!  #ChooseHappiness365 (151/365)

I have learned over the past year — not to value myself by the number I see on the scale.  It’s just a piece of the puzzle in my confounding journey toward Self Care.   But this week — the numbers on the scale told me that I have lost 11.8 pounds over the last month.  That is feedback that I need!   Well done, Diane, well done.  Keep going.  One step in front of the other.  #ChooseHappiness365 (150/365)

I first fell in love with guacamole at Tortilla Jo’s — a mexican restaurant in the Downtown Disney area at Disneyland.  At TJ’s they come to your table with a cart and make guac right in front of you — made to order, just as you like.  Oh but the fun doesn’t stop there — they also leave a heaping bowl of these thin, salty corn tortilla chips.  The perfect SHOVEL to move the guac from the bowl to my salivating mouth.  Ahhhh.  Heaven.  I think I still have the original 5 pounds I gained that day when I first took guac as my lover in Anaheim.

hole

— yeah yeah, we know.  But sometimes, you have a love affair with an Entenmann’s marshmallow devil’s food cake.  S.o.m.e.t.i.m.e.s. <3

Guilt aside…..that was almost a week ago and since that chocolatey, sumptuous, slip into the SmartPoint hole….I tracked it all, took the hit on my weekly points and have been eating like a champion ever since.  I’m finishing the week net/net zero.  Not in the red on either WPs or FitPoints.

Two things today.

#1 – The moving company who came to give us an estimate today said that if my career in finance doesn’t work out — he’d hire me into his packing department.  Apparently….this.girl.has.mad.skills!!  🙂

#2 – We took a break from packing and had lunch at Chipotle.  Chicken, black beans, some brown rice, tomato salsa and a bit of cheese over a salad.  Mmmmmmm,  Happiness in a bowl!
