The run starts off slowly (well, in the back anyway….LOL), because it takes quite some time for all the runners to make it over the Starting Line. The official clock read 3 minutes+ by the time I stepped over that magic purple line, and hit the start button on my Garmin watch. I laughed to myself, because I knew (already), 3 seconds into this thing…that 3 minutes wasn’t going to mean a thing. Not a darn thing! I had 2 hours and 40-ish minutes ahead of me. “Take care of yourself Diane. Enjoy it!.” That’s what I was saying to myself as I stepped over that line. Read the rest of this entry

2012 Unite Half Marathon — All Gazelles Take Your Places
After kissing Peter good-bye and walking into the runners corral — it became about finding my place in the Starting Line-up. CGI Racing Group was the organizer for the Unite Half Marathon, and again — this was very well-organized. Inside the corral, they had pace runners for every minute-mile category, with red balloons tied to their yellow vests, marked with the minute mile target. Read the rest of this entry
2012 Unite Half Marathon — Getting to the Starting Line
Forgive the delay in this post — I should have posted quick results yesterday, but it was a busy day, an amazing day, an overwhelming day in many respects. I’ll explain….. Read the rest of this entry

1 day to go — Excitement is the word of the Day!
I literally BoUncEd out of bed today, like a rubber ball. 7am get-up + Saturday = 8am Weight Watchers Meeting. I chose not to ride the bike to the meeting today. This close to the Race, and with so much invested — I didn’t want to risk any sort of injury on the bike – not today. That would be the worst thing. So I got up, took my time making coffee and packing my banana to go, and drove the short distance to the WW center. Gosh, what a gorgeous morning it was today. I enjoyed every minute of it, with the sun-roof open, and the morning light on my face. My mood was holding out, I feel A.w.e.s.o.m.e! Read the rest of this entry
2 days — Look Out Gazelles, I’m here to Crash Your Party
Running early before people are up and moving around, before the school buses hit the road to scoop up the kiddies. This was my last practice run today. The last run on my entire 18 week Training Schedule. The only other run…..is The RACE. W.O.W!!! When I started way back in December 2011 — 18 weeks seemed like an incredibly long time. 3 days and Luck is Shining Down on Me!
Today was a rest day from running, but a day full of information and preparation. I received an email from CGI Racing with all the Race Day information for Race Weekend April 21-22nd. The first exciting part was the Bib#s were posted!! So of course, I logged in and typed as fast as I could to find my number. Diane Robertson is Rutgers Unite Half Marathon 2012 runner #3006! KEWL! What a great number. My lucky number is 6. I was born on the 6th day of year 1966. So 6 has always been a positive energy number for me. So when I got my Bib# — the positive energy just kept coming toward me like a magnet. Read the rest of this entry
4 days to UNITE — Joy Rising!
Joy Rising — I learned that from Oprah. My life had been full to the brim with love, joy and happiness. I have been blessed, and I am grateful. But I’m not convinced I had ever experienced Joy Rising….until today. Read the rest of this entry

UNITE — in 6 days!
My run this morning was only 3 miles, but it was the first full-energy run since my knee injury. My knee gave me some grief when I was done, but I did it — and that IS ALL that matters! Just DO IT! Sunday is going to be brawl, a full on street F.I.G.H.T. But that’s also OK, because one of the things I have been learning and building these past 17 weeks, leading up to the Unite Half — is my Battle Readiness. My Tenacity to Fight. Bring it On! I’ve been let loose. Read the rest of this entry
