All week-long I’ve been telling myself….your foot feels fine — time to get back out there — time to start running again to maintain your base. Although I KNEW this in my head, and I WANTED it in my spirit…..Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday….Th…F…Saturday went by in a flash, and my running shoes stayed in the closet. It wasn’t until I sat myself down and worked out my Marathon Training Plan WITH a Schedule….that the rubber of my running shoes hit the road. I had good intentions all week-long. Good intentions are important. But like the old proverb says “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” Good intentions are not enough…..they’ll never be enough…….you need Action to make a difference. So — Sunday….I can always run on Sunday…..and So It Was! Like Magic! Nah, not really. Read the rest of this entry

Cheaters Never Prosper.
Weigh in yesterday taught me a lesson that I DON’T want to forget E>V>E>R! I’ve been on Running Rest for two weeks, remember? Right. So, for whatever reason….I seemed to have forgotten not to eat as much food as when I was running 30 miles a week. “But Diane, You are a Weight Watcher. You track your food via daily, weekly and earned activity points plus values……how could you just forget?” GOOD QUESTION. The short answer is….I’m a Cheater. The long answer is more complicated. Er….Nah, if I’m being honest, it’s really not. I’m a Cheater. Period. And it’s got to stop if I want to be successful. It’s about that Simple. So let’s get started doing that. K? So what’s next?
W.E.L.L……I figured it’s time to start putting My Marathon plan together. Because if I learned anything with the Half, I learned that plans take time. They need time to bake, and roast, and cook. Time to soak it in….so when the Plan comes together in the end — it’s done, Done, DONE! Read the rest of this entry
Transition
My mind and my activity is in a state of transition, and it has me off-balance. Resting my foot from running has been the right decision. It’s feeling stronger everyday, and I don’t feel any real pain sensations from regular walking or other activities. I’m keeping my promise to myself to keep active by doing my Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred DVD. I’m not really sure why it takes 30 days for some people to get shredded. Jillian shredded my butt in just 2 days. (HaHa!), but I keep going anyway. My arm muscles, leg muscles, heck even my chest muscles ache. The ache is a good thing…..I know, I know Jillian. I heard you. “It’s my body changing, it’s fear leaving the body”..…I know, I know. But mostly, it’s my body saying “You Win Jillian, You Win!! I’m Shredded!”
Passion is Hit or Miss
I walked into the Children’s Choice Center on West Ferris Rd in East Brunswick to ry something new…….ZUMBA! I’ve been wanting to try it for a long time. It’s everywhere. ZUMBA, ZUMBA, ZUMBA. Everytime someone mentions ZUMBA, somebody else always shouts out, “oh, it’s so much fun! So, what’s not to like?? I like Fun. So, I walked through the door last night and surrendered myself to ZUMBA. Well…..ZUMBA kicked my @ss, and took no prisoners. There’s no question about it……ZUMBA won! Read the rest of this entry
A Castle, a spaceship, a big blue hat, and some zebra
I’m the kind of person who gets a thought in their head, and it slowly begins to bug me. It keeps poking me, tickling my brain, worming its way deeper and deeper into my subconscious – until I begin dreaming about it. Once that happens…..I’m a goner. Once an awake , day-time thought starts to show up in my dreams — it’s something that it just going to have to happen……To Become Real. This is what has been going on this week with the idea of running the Walt Disney World Marathon in January 2013. Read the rest of this entry
Some mandatory Rest and Relaxation
A soon as the race was over……my desire to run quickly faded away for a while. I was (and still am) flying high from the experience. I LOVE how the good feelings are still surrounding me. When I called my Mom in Florida and was talking to her about the race…..I jokingly said “It’s kinda like childbirth. You’re glad you did it….but ya kinda don’t want to do it again for a while.” LOL Read the rest of this entry
The Lottery
So here’s a secret I’ve told very few people — back on February 16th 2012, in the midst of my Half Marathon Training for the Unite Half, I threw my name into the Lottery for the 2012 ING NYC Marathon, all 26.2 miles of it!! They drew the names this past Wednesday. WHAT WAS I THINKING! Well, I’ll tell ya……..
Full of Life
The days immediately following the race have been incredibly rewarding. People from the four corners of my life have come out to celebrate with me, and I’m flattered by the interest. LOL, I’m not used to this kind of attention. Get used to it girl! This is your New Life you are Living!!
2012 Unite Half Marathon – The Sprint to the Finish!
Why is there always a hill to climb at the end of a Race? Somehow it’s God’s little irony. As if I hadn’t done enough running 12 miles? Ya gotta put a hill for me to climb to get to the Finish Line? Well, Ok — if that’s how it’s gotta go — then let’s get busy climbing this d@mn hill. Read the rest of this entry
