Seeing Erin again today was wonderful. Scooping her up out of her dorm with her stuff and taking her with us — even better! We are driving to Florida in two vehicles, packed with everything we own that didn’t go to storage. Peter is driving the Forerunner with Erin and Jewel (in her kennel) as passengers. I’m driving the Camry with my iPod loaded with every tune I have ever loved from 1980 to present.
Somewhere near the Virginia/North Carolina border — Jon Secada started to sing “I’m Free”. Oh WOW could I relate today. I hit the repeat button and let that one play a few times. Following Peter, driving south, with music in my soul — I do feel free. Free of my house, my mortgage, cleaning, gardening, everything associated with being rooted in a place.
If you have the time, google Jon and take a listen to what he has to say. It’s a very uplifting song – and there’s alot to be learned from it. My favorite lines are the beginning of the chorus. Goes like this…“Cause I’m free, I’m free
And things are only as important As I want them to be”.
Oh YES. Only as important as I want them to be.…. So true.
And today…..I don’t want anything to be important…..except my music, the wind in my hair, and the passengers in the truck in front of me.
